PGY2 Hematology-Oncology Resident
Norton Cancer Institute
My name is Chris Zeheralis, PharmD; I’m a PGY2 Hematology-Oncology Pharmacy Resident at Norton Cancer Institute in Louisville, KY.
I graduated from Butler University in 2022 with my PharmD and a minor in Chemistry. During my time at Butler I saw my professional pathway change multiple times. I initially enrolled in the PharmD program with the intent of enrolling in a PhD program after graduation. During my P4 rotations, I found my inner passion for patient care, particularly for cancer patients. My sister is a survivor of pediatric Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia so I related heavily to the struggles of my cancer patients. These factors caused me to switch my career trajectory to become a practicing clinical pharmacist. In 2023, I completed my PGY1 pharmacy residency at Community Hospital in Munster, Indiana.
As a result of opportunities I had during my initial career path, I gained a plethora of uncommon skills for pharmacists. For example, I have a working knowledge of the Python programming language from a summer internship regarding use of machine learning in the healthcare setting. I also have a love for public speaking, stemming from my time as a competitive collegiate debater with state, regional, and national experience.
My areas of interest in Oncology are hematologic malignancies, CNS malignancies, and supportive care. I take pride in being a fierce patient advocate and hope to one day work with private or public partners to aide patients in cancer treatment affordability. I also am an educator at heart, and relish opportunities to teach patients, students, and providers.
I am a native of Northwest Indiana. In my free time I enjoy writing and reading poetry, hiking, critiquing film/TV, and watching sports.
